I NEED YOUR HELP!! - November 18, 2009
Hi Folks,
I need your help!
I have sent a copy of my new CD, "One of the Girls", to Stan Carew, the host of CBC radio's Weekend Mornings show. I now need you to call up and request a song off the CD.
The first song going to radio across Canada the first week of February is the title track, One of the Girls.
The second song going to radio in '10 is Open Road and the third is I Need You... that's the plan if I can a bit of financial help.
Stan's toll free # anywhere in the Maritimes is 1-888-737-0338. Please ask for a Dan Mason tune from his new CD. Thanks for any and all help... it's very much appreciated!

Remembrance Day - November 9, 2009
I just wanted to say how important it is for all of us to take the time to remember our soldiers and their families on Remembrance Day. They give so much for all of us and deserve our dedication and respect. Dan
Critique of My Music - November 1, 2009
Hi Everyone,
Please see the following critique of my music from a music industry professional. I'm very humbled by the critique and admittingly, a bit proud too.

As a radio promoter, and a lover of music, I'm frequently asked for my impressions of and comments about artists and musicians. With regard to Dan Mason, I've had the opportunity to listen to his studio work, and completed recordings. Dan is a gifted songwriter and performer producing straight forward lyrics and catchy melodies delivered with his signature country style.
Dan has enormous support among both his cross-Canada fans and his peers. His original songs are heartfelt, intensely compelling and often humorous. This is a unique and sophisticated talent with a promising future who will continue to reward and delight his fans.

NEW CD WILL BE AVAILABLE SEPTEMBER 15TH!!! - August 26, 2009
Hi Folks,
My new CD will arrive around September 15th. I have a copy of the Master and it sounds real good... I'm really, really pleased with Tim Feswick's work, along with all the instrumentalists that played on it, including J.P. Cormier.
I will soon be replacing last year's CD on my website with the new one and updating my Sonicbids site as well with the new tunes. This CD is applicable to all ages. My first release to radio will be One of the Girls, the name of the CD.
I would like to thank Blair McDonald for all the help on the business side and also thank Allison McLellan for doing the photo shoot and the graphic design on short timelines for the CD... much appreciated. Also, a tip of the hat to Jenn Martin, Artist Rep at Indie Pool Inc., for all the help coordinating the manufacture of the CD.
Bye for now,
Dan
Final Vocals Done!!!!! - August 11, 2009
Helllllllllllllo,
Final vocals are done as of 6:00 p.m. Monday, August 10th.
It was an awesome learning experience. I couldn't have picked a better producer to learn from as well. He has the right combination of attributes.
Now, my job is to get the CD manufacturing stuff out of the way, pay Tim and get some R&R after a BUSYYYYY two weeks.
I'm damn tired!!
Talk to you soon,
Dan
New CD called, "One of the Girls" - August 7, 2009
Hi Folks,
All the tracks are done on my new CD, which will be called, "One of the Girls". JP Cormier and a couple of other artists are singing that line at the end of the tune... should be fun!
This song will be our first single released to radio in September. It will be sold in CD Plus stores throughout Atlantic Canada, in convenience stores and online through CD Baby as well... stay tuned on that front.
I'm now gearing up to do the final vocals this weekend and then Tim Feswick puts his genious to work, and folks, he really is a genious at what he does and a gentleman to boot, so this sucker sounds awesome! I cannot wait to get it to the store shelves! Neither can the bank!!
Thanks for reading.
Cheers,
Dan
Stanfest '09 - July 7, 2009
Hi Folks,
I really enjoyed the opportunity of playing Stanfest this year (I always loved Canso anyhow... the community spirit and people are just the best). I was on stage with Molly Thomason and Anna Ludlow. Both of these artists are extremely talented and are/will have fantastic careers in the music business. Thanks as well for Iris and Henry Martin of Country Harbour for checking out the show... it was good to see a smiling face in the audience!
It was great as well to listen and talk to the many artists... some different than mainstream radio will play but that is a good thing... all music has value and these folks are extremely good at what they do and deserve the attention for sure.
Next year, following the release of my new CD this August, my goal is to play one of the concert stages at Stanfest with my full band, as Country music lends itself to a full band sound. And, I can do some more of my upbeat tunes with a full band. However, I'm am very thankful that Troy Greencorn, the Artistic Director, gave me this opportunity as a singer/songwriter... it was much appreciated!
I'm headed to the Kempt Shore Maritime Acoustic Music Festival on July 18th in Newport, Hants County, NS and I will be backed by the award winning Elliot Family Band. Bill, Mike and Carl are wicked instrumentalists and vocalists and Bill and Mike are currently playing with J.P. Cormier these days, so I'm excited and honored to be on the same stage as these gentlemen.
Until next time,
Dan

Bed Tracks Done! - June 2, 2009
Hi Folks,
Tim Feswick and I spent the past weekend laying down the bed tracks to all 10 tunes on my upcoming CD.
Tim is a great producer, musician and a great guy, so it was a very productive and enjoyable time for me.
I will add some pics soon and I will have some news around professional representation in the next week or so.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Benefit for Breanna MacInnis - April 24, 2009
Hi Everyone,
As my calendar states, myself and the band will be doing a benefit for Breanna MacInnis, a 10 year old girl in Antigonish who is battling cancer.
I spoke with Breanna's grandfather and mom and the manager of Wal-Mart Antigonish, Blair McDonald, and together we will be promoting this event.
If you can, come out and give generously to this cause. Breanna is headed to Ontario for treatment in a couple of days and the financial help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you and God Bless.

Guestbook Postings - April 4, 2009
Hi Folks,
I have been getting some inappropriate/graphic postings on my website guestbook for a while now. Based on the language of the postings in many cases, it appears that they originate from Eastern Europe.
I try my best to delete them as they are posted but sometimes I am away from my computer and unable to do so for some time. Please let me know of anything that is not appropriate and I will delete it asap.
Thanks,
Dan
New Fiddler - March 30, 2009
Hi Folks,
I just wanted to thank those able to come to the concert last evening in Country Harbour. I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
Robyn Foote, a young lady and fiddler from Pictou County, played her first show with me and did a fine job. She is very talented and a great gal and myself, Greg and Peter are glad to have her aboard.
Until next time,
Dan
Guestbook Posting - March 25, 2009
Hi Everyone,
I was going over my Guestbook and noticed that the last person to leave a post (Saturday, March 21st) neglected to leave their name and e-mail address. I like to get back to everyone personally, so please, if you read this, send me an e-mail to let me know who you are?
And, just to clarify from the Guestbook posting above, I do not plan on selling my home or moving away. In fact, I will be buildin' on if anything. This is a great place to live and the neighbors are simply awesome, so I'll be staying as long as I can stay.
Cheers,
Dan

I want to say at this time that my thoughts and prayers are with the families of our soldiers killed in Afghanistan. May the soldiers still deployed come home safe!
